Description
About this piece
Two koi, circling. A moon above them, waves drawn with the kind of patience the subject demands, and red maple leaves caught in the water between.
The composition is built to loop — your eye follows one fish into the other and back again, which is exactly what the motif has always been for. It is a design that rewards standing still in front of it, and that is rarer on a t-shirt than it should be.
The design
Traditional wave linework is the technical heart of this one: dozens of parallel curved lines that have to stay evenly spaced across the whole composition. It is the single most demanding thing to print in the catalogue, because the eye reads any inconsistency in a repeating pattern immediately.
The red maple leaves are the only warm colour and they are placed to break the blue rhythm at three points rather than scattered evenly. That kind of deliberate asymmetry inside a symmetrical motif is what stops the design feeling like clip art, and the high-density print is what keeps the wave lines separate rather than letting them bleed into solid blocks.
Who it’s for and how to wear it
For people who like traditional Japanese motifs done properly rather than as a vague aesthetic, and for anyone who wants a dark tee with genuine craft in the drawing.
Black bottoms and clean footwear, with nothing else patterned — the wave work is already a pattern and a second one turns the whole fit into noise. Front-only print with a plain back, so an open overshirt works over it.
Fabric and build quality
There is a specific way cheap oversized clothing fails: right in the photo, wrong on the third wear, because a light blank has nothing holding it up. A 240 GSM blank does. Cut as a true drop-shoulder oversized fit, pre-shrunk before the pattern is laid, with the stress seams doubled. The full comparison: 240 GSM vs 180 GSM, explained.
Fit and sizing
Your normal size gives the drape this was cut for. People who size up out of habit usually end up with more length than they wanted. Flat chest measurements run 42, 44, 46 and 48 inches from S to XL, with lengths of 27.5 through 30.5, half an inch either way. If you are still unsure, the oversized size guide for India walks through it.
Printing, care and how long it lasts
A high-density print survives because it moves with the cotton rather than against it. What it cannot survive is repeated heat. Wash cold and inside out, line dry rather than tumble drying, and iron around the artwork if you iron at all. Full explanation: why prints crack and how to stop it.

Twin Tides Oversized T-Shirt — FAQs
Is the design printed on the back as well?
No. Front-only with a deliberately plain back, which keeps the tee wearable under an open layer and stops two detailed compositions competing.
Will the fine linework survive washing?
The wave pattern is the most detailed print we produce, and it is laid down at high density precisely because parallel hairlines are what cheap printing merges first. Cold wash, inside out, line dry and the spacing holds.
I am between two sizes — which should I take?
The smaller one. The cut is already oversized, so your usual size gives the intended drape and sizing up mainly adds length. Compare the flat measurements on this page against a tee you already own.
Does the red fade faster than the blue?
Warm accents are generally the first to dull, but only from heat rather than from wear. Keep it out of the tumble dryer and out of direct sun when drying and the leaves stay saturated.
What payment methods do you accept?
UPI, credit and debit cards and net banking through Razorpay, plus Cash on Delivery across India. Shipping is free and tracked whichever you choose.
What fabric are Toxikiing tees made from?
100% cotton French Terry at 240 GSM — heavyweight, pre-shrunk and bio-washed, roughly twice the weight of a standard promotional tee. That weight is what makes an oversized cut hang properly instead of drooping. Hoodies use 300 GSM brushed fleece.
