The design

A character illustration this detailed needs a surface that stays still. On a light blank the fabric moves under the print every time you do, and fine coat linework is the first thing to distort — it goes wavy long before it goes faint. 240 GSM French Terry has the body to hold the chest panel flat, which is why the detail survives being worn rather than only surviving the product photo.

The cut is drafted oversized from the start rather than being a regular fit scaled up, so the shoulder seam is meant to sit down your arm and the body stays boxy instead of tapering. Fabric is pre-shrunk before the pattern is cut, bio-washed so it is soft out of the packet, and double-stitched through the shoulder, armhole and hem. Fit and sizing

Because the print sits wide across the chest, the size you pick changes how the artwork reads as much as how the tee feels — go too large and the composition drifts toward your ribs. Take your usual size: the pattern is already oversized, so sizing up mostly buys length. Flat measurements, chest by length: S is 42 by 27.5 inches, M is 44 by 28.5, L is 46 by 29.5, XL is 48 by 30.5, with about half an inch of tolerance either way. How the print ages, and how to slow it down

The accent colour is the part that will tell you first if you have been careless. Bright accents on a mostly monochrome print lose saturation before the blacks do, and what takes them is heat rather than wear — one hot tumble-dry cycle ages this artwork more than a season of wearing it.

So: cold water, turned inside out, no bleach and no fabric softener, and line dry in shade. Iron around the print rather than across it.
