Description
About this piece
A snow leopard comes down a ridge mid-prowl, one paw already off the rock, against a wall of cobalt peaks and a pale disc of sun behind it. ALPINE PHANTOM sits beneath in heavy condensed lettering with the weathered edges of an old expedition patch.
It is the most classically drawn piece in the drop — a wildlife illustration done properly rather than stylised into a logo, which is rarer on a graphic tee than it should be.
The design
The animal is rendered in dense greyscale stipple: rosettes, guard hairs, the heavy brush of the tail, all built from fine marks rather than flat fills. Behind it the mountains are handled completely differently, in hard cobalt and white planes with almost no interior detail.
That contrast is the composition’s whole strategy. A detailed subject against a simplified background reads instantly from a distance and then rewards you for looking closer, which is why the leopard stays the focus even though the mountains occupy more of the shirt.
Stipple is the technical problem. It is thousands of individual marks that have to stay individual — let them spread and merge and the fur turns into a flat grey mass, which is the exact moment the animal stops looking alive. On a white blank there is no dark fabric to hide a weak patch either, so the density has to be right across the whole cat.
Who it’s for and how to wear it
For people who like real illustration on their clothing, anyone drawn to mountain and expedition imagery, and the broader group who want a white graphic tee that is not another washed-out slogan.
The cobalt does the work, so keep the rest neutral — black or indigo denim, plain footwear, nothing else printed. It is one of the easier pieces in this drop to wear in warm weather, being white with a good amount of open fabric around the artwork.
The blank this is printed on
Fine stipple work on a light ground is the least forgiving combination we print, because there is nothing to hide behind: no dark fabric lending contrast, no busy composition disguising a soft patch. It needs a dense, even, genuinely opaque surface. That is our 240 GSM French Terry, 100% cotton, heavy enough to stay opaque in daylight rather than going faintly translucent the way thin white tees do, and stable enough that the fur detail is not distorting as you move. Pre-shrunk before cutting, bio-washed, double-stitched at the shoulder, armhole and hem, cut as a true drop-shoulder oversized fit. The full weight comparison: 240 GSM vs 180 GSM, explained.
Fit and sizing
The artwork is centred and roughly square, which makes this one of the more size-forgiving pieces in the drop — but take your usual size anyway, because the pattern is drafted oversized before you make any decision and going up mainly buys length. The figures on this page are the garment measured flat rather than body measurements: 42 inches across the chest at S, rising two inches per size to 48 at XL, with lengths from 27.5 to 30.5 taken at the high shoulder. Allow about half an inch either way, which is normal on any cut garment. Compare against something already in your wardrobe. The oversized size guide for India handles the boundary cases.
How the print ages, and how to slow it down
White blanks need slightly more attention than dark ones, and this one has a print that punishes carelessness twice over. Wash cold and inside out, deal with marks before they set rather than after, and skip bleach entirely — it yellows cotton over time rather than whitening it, and it will damage the print. Line dry in shade rather than direct sun, which fades both the cobalt and the blank itself. No tumble dryer: heat is what makes fine stipple spread and merge, and once the fur has gone flat there is no getting it back. Why heat does that: why prints crack and how to stop it.

Alpine Phantom Oversized T-Shirt — FAQs
Will a white tee go see-through?
No. At 240 GSM the blank is roughly twice the weight of a standard promotional tee, which is what keeps it opaque in daylight — the usual giveaway on cheap white shirts.
How do I keep the white looking new?
Cold wash inside out, treat marks quickly rather than letting them set, and avoid bleach — it yellows cotton over time and damages the print. Dry in shade rather than direct sun.
Is the back printed?
No, the back is plain. The front carries the full composition and a second print would work against it.
Will the fur detail hold up?
That is what the high-density print protects. The leopard is built from thousands of fine marks, and thin printing lets them spread until the fur reads as a flat grey shape. Kept out of a hot dryer, the stipple stays separated.
Is the artwork licensed from anywhere?
No — it is original Toxikiing illustration. We are not reproducing anyone else’s artwork, and we would rather state that plainly than let it be assumed.
Is Cash on Delivery available?
Yes, across India, alongside UPI, cards and net banking through Razorpay. Shipping is free and tracked either way, dispatched in 24 to 48 hours.
